Randy Bailey grew up in the Charleston, West Virginia area and graduated from West Virginia University. Several construction jobs during college summers led to membership in the International Laborers Union, where he helped organize a company’s labor force. After college and service in the U.S. Army as an artillery Captain, Randy returned to West Virginia in pursuit of a job. His role as a benefits supervisor with a coal mining operation in southern West Virginia provided valuable experience in employee and labor relations and employee benefits administration. This role marked the start of his 40-year career in Human Resources.
After moving to Florida, Randy worked in progressively responsible Human Resources roles at a variety of companies across industries such as construction, electric utilities, medical centers, office equipment, consulting, and turbine maintenance. After receiving his Master’s Degree, he served as an Adjunct Professor at several Florida universities, instructing courses on Human Resources topics including compensation, labor relations, recruitment, and employee benefits. Randy reached his professional goal of becoming the Vice President of a large four-billion-dollar company when he was forty-seven. Roles with international companies provided culturally diverse situations and stories to experience and added insight into a full Human Resources career with responsibilities for the entire spectrum of the profession. He achieved the Senior Certified Professional status from the Society of Human Resources Management and the Certified Compensation Professional from World@Work (formerly the American Compensation Association) and the Lifetime Achievement Award in Compensation. Randy is also a historian and is enjoying retirement in St. Petersburg, Florida, with his wife, Linda, and their pets.
