Marciano has been an educator for the past 25 years. In that time, he has told and retold these stories of his childhood to his students. He has finally written them for you all to share.
Epifanio truly fits the nickname his parents have given him. El Panzon (chubby kid) knows he is a big kid and there’s no denying why: his Ma’s food. Epi, as his friends call him, is the best reader/student in the class and has the Gold Stars to prove it.
The one goal he hasn’t accomplished yet is the Great School Spelling Bee. A boy from another class has beaten Epi for the past two years. Epi is determined to win this year. But at what cost?
Follow Epi and his friends as they venture into earning scout badges, cook for the first time, ride their bikes everywhere, and come face to face with La Llorona!
