Your Tongue Has A Home by Catherine Kangas

Does your child breathe through their mouth, struggle with sleep, or have trouble keeping their lips closed?

Most parents don’t realize that how a child breathes and where their tongue rests can impact their sleep, facial growth, and overall health. In this engaging and beautifully illustrated book, children will learn the simple yet powerful habit of healthy oral rest posture—keeping their tongue up, lips closed, and breathing through their nose!

Written by a parent and Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist, Your Tongue Has A Home was created to spark conversations and empower families with knowledge about the importance of nasal breathing and proper tongue posture. Through fun rhymes and easy-to-follow concepts, children will discover how small daily habits can help them feel better, sleep deeper, and grow stronger.

Whether you’re a parent, teacher, or healthcare provider, this book is a must-have resource for setting the foundation for a lifetime of better breathing, better sleep, and better health.

Catherine Kangas is a dedicated Orofacial Myofunctional Therapist and the proud owner of Integrative Myo, where she provides customized, high-quality care to patients in her community just outside Houston, Texas.

Her journey into myofunctional therapy was deeply personal. After years in dentistry, she discovered that her own son’s sleep struggles and health challenges were linked to an undiagnosed tongue tie and myofunctional disorders. This eye-opening experience ignited her passion for airway health and myofunctional therapy, and she hasn’t looked back since. Today, she is committed to helping families find answers, access the care they need, and improve their quality of life.

Catherine received her initial training through the MyoMentor program in partnership with The Breathe Institute and later advanced her expertise as a graduate of the Myo Masterminds course. She continues to expand her knowledge each year through ongoing education and is an active member of the American Academy of Physiological Medicine & Dentistry, the International Association of Airway Hygienists, and Airway Circle.

When she’s not working with patients or raising awareness about airway health, Catherine loves spending time with her husband and two boys.
